My Story

Movement and mindfulness matter most

For 25 years, I led group fitness classes in gyms and studios across my home city of Madison, WI. For most of those years, I focused on high-intensity workouts for students that—like me—believed you need to kick your butt to get a good workout.

But with age and experience came the wisdom that health and wellness will not always look like high-intensity and heavy weights.

Now, I’m a full-time certified yoga instructor with an online practice dedicated to making fulfilling, nurturing movement available to anyone, anywhere.

My Promise

Wherever you are,
you’re welcome here

In my online studio, inclusivity is key. Whether you’re practicing from home by choice or by necessity, you deserve an experience that’s welcoming and supportive.

My approach is trauma-informed, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for everyone and classes that provide functional, restorative moment.

About Jen

“You are my favorite yoga instructor I’ve ever had. You are by far more gracious and generous and non-judgmental than any other!”

I've worked for over two decades as an in-classroom educator, mentor, and group fitness instructor—always striving to guide and motivate individuals toward healthier, happier lives. It's a role I cherish, fostering not just physical well-being but a sense of community and empowerment.

I’ve also learned that creating environments that inspire growth, understanding, and well-being starts with recognizing that our path forward is not always smooth. Not every day feels joyful, and we can’t always find the power in ourselves to be optimistic. That’s a truth I respect and honor with myself, my family, and my students.

I also believe that finding the just-right people and practices—in whatever form that takes—goes a long way toward building resilience and strength in our lives. Join me on this journey, where education, fitness, and mindfulness converge to make a positive impact.

Try a flow

Having the right instructor is essential to keeping a consistent practice. Use these flows to see if my classes and my style are a good fit for you.

Testimonials

“After the first class I was hooked! Slow flow is exactly what I need, both mentally and physically. The pace is perfect. I can breathe and relax into a pose and not feel rushed to move with each inhale and exhale. I also appreciate the dialogue to keep me on track of what I need to do and the options, which I have been doing. Your classes feel real, and transparent, and inclusive.  I’ve already seen improvements in my poses and flexibility which has helped motivate me.”

Collene C.

“I am thoroughly enjoying your classes. I have recently started focusing on my mental health a little better and absolutely have fallen in love with your teachings and way that you practice. It has brought so much positive to my life and I plan and pray that this becomes a part of my daily life from here on out. Just learning to love me again has felt beyond anything I imagined.”

Common Questions

  • Currently, I’m 100% dedicated to providing classes through my online studio. It’s the best way for me to focus on my mission to provide high-quality, inclusive instruction to individuals that do not have access to in-person and/or prefer the privacy and ease of practicing from home.

  • It is recommended that you have a yoga or workout mat, if possible; and using a hard surface rather than carpet is also encouraged. I often suggest using yoga blocks, but hardcover books can be a great substitute. We also sometimes use a blanket or large towel, and a long strap (like a necktie or belt). If you have access to the suggested props, great. If not, that is absolutely okay, too.

  • I pride myself on providing options, and am always mindful of offering cues to support students with different levels of experience and movement considerations. However your body is or feels, it’s my goal that you feel supported in my class.

  • Absolutely not! As long as you can see me, that’s all you need to take one of my virtual classes.

  • As a longtime yoga student myself, I understand how important it is to find an instructor that’s a good fit. The instructor’s tone, demeanor, and approach to providing cues and options are all an integral part of the experience. I hope you’ll try the recorded classes I’ve posted here, and invite you to sign up for a free two-week trial!

  • I am ACE certified Group Fitness Instructor since 1998, and a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance since 2018.
